I thought

I was back home in Sitiawan for my study break. And I helped out in the house a little by doing simple stuff like washing the dishes.

It was sometime in the evening. We had early dinner. Again I washed up the stuff. And out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a shadow moving around under the mango tree. Maybe it was just the light playing tricks on me. But when I looked closer, there was nothing there.

The shadow just caught my eye. For a split instant, I thought Copper was there. I was about to call out, then I managed to stop myself. There is no Copper. No more Copper. Copper's dead. Buried in the backyard. And yet, it seemed like she was there. She used to walk under the mango tree.

I have a new dog. He came two months ago. He's called Tango. Yeah, I play with him, but I don't accept him. Many times, after playing, I'll go into the house and say, Ma, just now Copper... And my bro would go, The dog's name is Tango la! I still cannot let go. The wound is just too deep.

You don't understand. You thought you did, but you never will! You think it's crazy of me to want Copper back. Of course I do! She's family. You think a dog is just a dog. HELLO! She's my family! I still cry at night for her, knowing she won't come back, and yet, still hurting so badly.

You think animals are just animals. NEWSFLASH!!!!!! Humans are worse than animals. Humans are scums. Which animal on Earth is capable of being guilty of the seven sins? Only humans! Animals are perfect. They only do what they need to do to survive in this world! And what do we do? We destroy their world. Yeah yeah, some people try to help, but many still couldn't care, and you're one of them!

Copper visited me in my dreams last night. She came to me, and she brought a dog with her. She has found a friend, a brown dog, just like her. She just walked through the front door, knowing that she will always be welcomed at home. Then I woke up. Mummy said that Copper is trying to say that she is happy, and will protect and watch over all of us...

I think this has just got to be the busiest semester in the three semesters I've been in UTAR. Tests and assignments every single week since we came back from celebrating Chinese New Year. I guess this is a student's life?

Finals starts in two weeks time. Am I too proud to say that I think I did pretty well this time? I mean for my tests and stuff... My marks have improved... A bit... But... Still an improvement right? I feel like I really learnt something this year.

It has been fun, this semester's classes. All the lecturers except one know how to teach. I enjoyed myself. I really did. And I hope I don't disappoint anyone when my results are out. Something David said, about feeling proud watching someone you guided being able to grow.

No, it hasn't been easy. Especially with my social life. I have good friends, and I have good friends that turned bad. Not bad in a bad way, just that our relationship went sour. I'm not taking anything for granted anymore.

Reviewing my life these 13 weeks, things have been changing. Tango the new dog is here to stay, but I am not loving him yet. I can't. Copper is my dog. Tango will only be the dog. My brother is in PJ by himself studying. I've got a niece. I've lost a friend.

After my finals will be my 3 week semester break. During this time, Wei Xing will be leaving for US. He's gonna be working there for three months, his summer break. I don't want him to go, yet I can't be so self centered and think that his world revolves around me.
